Panton- March 2011 Medley

Local-turned-international sensation Panton has cooked up a mini mix of his latest and upcoming releases. I remember hearing a few of these during his set at Igloofest, which was, I must add, one of my favorite sets of the event. Panton never disappoints with his creative, flawless mixing and cerebral, tasteful quality productions. Have a listen, hear for yourself:

Swick - Jogalani EP by No Brainer Records

"Today No Brainer Records serves you three tropical miniatures stuffed with a vast amount of fresh ideas, created by a young fella from Melbourne. Introducing Swick. He's another one of these obscenely young and talented Australian DJ/Producer types.

The question arises: Is Swick the forgotten son of Crocodile Dundee? “Jogalani” clearly sounds as if he’s practicing Dundee’s knife routines with some bamboo sticks. “Quandong” though rather reminds me of meditaion scenes in old Steven Seagal movies where as “Broccoli” sounds as if it was the music to the so called ‘dance of joy’ some demons traditionally do in the TV series Angel, that spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I know. I watch too much TV, you’re right, but I listen to No Brainer Records. I’m not done yet though, cause these Swick tracks are accompanied by some universe expanding reinterpretations.

Douster (Mad Decent) proves that Mexican 3ball can be fused with Gabba. Vhyce (Sweat It Out!) translates “Jogalani” to the Tech House hipsters teaching them the ‘dance of joy’. Malente resizes the Original to fit a proper dancefloor. Them Jeans (Dim Mak) serves Broccoli by the pound and Chaos In The CBD (Youngunz) deep fry that vegetable.

Hey ho Dooze Jackers!

LOGO- La Vie Moderne EP minimix

"Logo is a what's-the-point duo. They can’t sing and have nothing to prove. Engaging and impassive, they settle for the sight of modern life: from its fake veneer to its faded wallpaper. They don’t laugh or make fun of this observation. This is why Logo decided to start passive resistance.

Hugues is a student. At university, he is told that with a bit of self-sacrifice, he will be out of reach. But he already knew that. So in order to compensate all this love, at night he reads. More withdrawn from reality, Thomas smiles from time to time and thinks. More in images than in words.

Both a cynical and a playful consumer product, Logo matches perfectly well the market’s requirements since it embodies with dynamism the new design of a world with unchanged values. In the future, only shapes can transform.

Panton- 'Someday' EP Launch

"Whether he be carrying you into the mists of techno or setting up some good house and tech-house vibes, Panton's style is hypnotic and unpredictable. While his first EP "Someday," released on Southern Fried Records, is considered a landmark in terms of hybrid techno/tech-house/electro music. Panton is surely gaining appraisal with his EP and upcoming remixes for 2 Bears (Hot Chip), Magik Johnson, Tuffweelz and his much anticipated Crookers remix, already supported by Brodinski and critically acclaimed at the WMC 2010. Fully-equiped with analog hardware, Panton is going back to the roots of techno and house with his upcoming second EP. Keep an eye out."

Panton's much talked about "Someday" EP is out now on beatport on Southern Fried Records.

Don't miss the EP Launch TONIGHT at Foufounes Electriques, at Voyeur with Jordan Dare.

Cha Cha Cha

Beataucue is the new frenchy and noisy sensation. Médéric Martin and Alexis Bruaert are made of electricity and can be considered as the sons of Dutch music. They first hit the floors with remixes of the likes of Brodinski and Major Lazer.and we bet you’ll be crushed by their fresh and screamy productions. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Beataucue’s brand new Cha Cha Cha EP.

Usual Suspects

It's Saturday night. You've had a long week. You're bored, you want to go out, dance, have a drink and have a good time. You're not the kind of person to go out to bottle-popping, money-blowing, Guetta-playing clubs, where young people go to hook-up. You're more interested in the DJ, in good music, in different music, in dancing to music you have never even heard before, but that gets you moving and smiling, in affordable drinks, and pleasant company.

ZUBI

ZUBI!

The urban dictionary defines "zubi" as "a curse word in Hebrew, meaning 'penis'... used to imply that "hell not I'm not doing this!"" For instance: "zubi that I'm dedicating this post to male genitalia!!"

The reason why I am writing about 'zubi' is because it goes way deeper than the urban dictionary's definition. It is actually a name, a DJ name, a new DJ name. In fact, ZUBI represents a new solo side-project for NROTB's Mr.P.

He has recently released his very first mix, called PYRAMIDS MIX. Influenced by the sounds from all musical backgrounds, ZUBI always tries to bring new sounds to the dancefloor. Juggling between house music, uk funk, tech house and techno music, ZUBI creates his own vibe on the dancefloor.
