THE YOUNG CANADA MIX FROM LOVE THY BROTHER

So the focus of this mix was just to get all the upcoming Canadian producers on one big mix. Me and my brother Liam scoured our great frozen land far and wide, under rock and tree, from the deepest depths of Lake Huron to the majestic peaks of the rocky mountains for the sickest, raddest, most cold certified producers in the great white north for one epic slapshot of a mix. After a long and arduous journey we finally assembled these 17 crazy Canuck acts who all graciously offered us both released and unreleased music just in time to pump everyone up with some National spirit for the Olympic games…. and throw the gauntlet down to all you other countries out there who think you can beat this EHHHHH!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

John Roman
: Big relentless grinding aggressive synths, John Roman’s sound has that raw feel and energy that just rips right into your chest. He should be bigger than he is without a doubt. Martyr is one the coolest songs out there right now. (http://www.myspace.com/johnromandj)

Golden Gloves: Benny and Cowiebunga make up electro hotspot London Ontario’s biggest Dj duo. These guys have helped turn this small city into one of the most thriving electronic scenes in the country. Golden Gloves and the whole dirty disco squad have hosted everyone from MSTRKRFT to the Bloody Beetroots, with their EP about to drop Golden Gloves are only about to get bigger. (http://www.myspace.com/goldenglovesdjs)

DATSIK & EXCISION: I don’t know Datsik and Excision personally but anyone who knows Dubstep knows these guys are massive and leading the Canadian Charge. It’s just the most gutter, grimy evil bass you can dream of. Makes me want to kill people every single time I listen to it. If these guys were to remix Wokka Flokka Flame I just might end up behind bars. (http://www.myspace.com/djdatsik) (http://www.myspace.com/excision)

Torro Torro have got to be the most consistent producers in Canada right now. These guys are so close I can taste it. With so many big names playing their Auto-Erotique remix and the sheer quality of their production these guys are going to blow in 2010 no ifs and or buts. If you haven’t heard it before check out there remixes of Bang, Riverside, and Gladiator – all are a cut above the competition. (http://www.myspace.com/torrotorro)

Zed’s Dead are Just murdering it right now. These guys are riding the crest of the huge Dub Step tide in Toronto and the city couldn’t have better poster boys. Their tracks range from all out club bangers to the kind of tracks that rich girls with father issues love to drop in the range and just lose it to in bed. (http://www.myspace.com/zedsdead)

Kid Aloha: The other resident saintwoods Dj alongside me and my brother as well as my partner in crime on saintwoods.com. Kid Aloha has got to be the most likeable guy in Canadian music right now. His sheer humbleness and swellness has got some of the biggest Djs in the world taking a shining to him. But don’t let that fool you. He’s got a relentless drive and passion that has pushed him to the top of Eastern Canadian DJs in less than a year. He may hail from Hawaii but he has taken up semi-permanence in our country and I just couldn’t leave this catchy tune out. Check for it dropping soon. (http://www.myspace.com/kidalohamusic)

LOVE THY BROTHER: If you don’t know about us LTB is me — Conor Clarke –and my brother Liam. We produce and DJ, and I run the blog and event company saintwoods.com with a few of the guys I grew up with in Montreal and Toronto. We’ve got a library of tracks with everything from slow jams to house to Dub Step that we’ve been too scared to put out until we felt our production quality wouldn’t embarrass us. Look out for this one and for something completely different our remix of the Knife’s Opera, Coloring of Pigeons, dropping in the next couple of weeks. (http://www.myspace.com/lovethybrotherdjs)

NROTB: Patrice and Mr. Ed are pretty close to being disqualified from this list as they are already signed and respected card carrying members of the DJ world. But Patrice is such an awesome guy that I just couldn’t leave them off the list. Their production is impeccable and there sound is totally different than your everyday club music, check out the rest of their stuff and make sure you cop their Droplet EP when it drops this February with remixes by Auto-Erotique and Felix Cartal. (http://www.myspace.com/nrotb)

Barletta: Another Saintwoods.com contributor and frequent guest DJ, Barletta has got more raw talent than I think he knows what to do with. Just check out his myspace… The amount of production credits this guy has under his name is enough to make serial fixer Chew Fu stand up and take notice. This guy posts a brand new exclusive on our blog once a week and I’ve had people like Alexis On Fire tweeting out remixes he did of them that he must have put together in a matter of days. Whisper is my favourite track of his solo work to date. Its incredibly cool, housey but with some kind of dark edge that just fits the man so perfectly. (http://www.myspace.com/djbarletta)

Smoke and Mirrors is legendary Vancouver DJ Neoteric’s project with U-Tern. Neoteric gets tons of respect around the world but definitely not enough for his production work because this stuff is crazy hot. The fact there wasn’t any Smoke and Mirrors on his super popular mystery mix for Discobelle was unacceptable…. Manz needs to get back in the studio ASAP! (http://www.myspace.com/smokeandmirrorsandmusic)

Gingy: Our boy Brian is the man behind Gingy and the legendary Dirty Disco parties out in Western (RIP). Brian basically single handedly started the booming London, Ontario electro music scene and gave a start to other guys like Golden Gloves. Everyone of his tracks are on point and I’m feeling like he’s really settling into a style that works for him. 2010 should be a huge year for Gingy. (http://www.myspace.com/aintnothinbutging)

Nujax: The brainchild of Alan Brinsmead and Justin Adler who also run the legendary Sextape Fridays out of Team Canada’s joint Blue Dog. Nujax are now a household name in Montreal and Sound of Stereo bumped this track out to thousands of people at I love Techno. (http://www.myspace.com/nujaxdjs)

Killabits: A cool new project out of Toronto. Killabits is that big bassheavy sound with an uptempo party feel that seems to be gripping the whole Toronto scene. Super new on the scene but this one is a certified banger and I’m sure we’ll all be hearing more from these guys. (http://www.myspace.com/thekillabits)

Dooze Jackers: Dooze Jackers are part of the new wave of young French producers moving up in Montreal. This track got played on BBC one and Foamo was dropping it at our four year anniversary last week — a super catchy dutch anthem. (http://www.myspace.com/doozejackers)

MadKids: The frontrunners of the whole young French Canadian music scene these guys are the shit. Ever since they put out their Touch My horn remix every track they’ve put out has been on point. I loved their Crookers remix and thought they were going dub step. They’ve changed their style up a bit since then… these guys are incapable of staying in the middle of the pack. (http://www.myspace.com/madkidsmusic)

Riviera: RIP. Sadly Mansion is no more. Originally the project of Toronto bad girl Violca and our boy Barletta, Mansion put out two of the most epic tracks of the past two years with Body and Gasaida. Once they split Violca hung around for one last hurrah with this dark brooding official remix for Bennassi and then called it quits. She is now Riviera and you can expect a hell of a lot of amazing work coming out of that project. (http://www.myspace.com/riviera416)

Le Matos: This track is too good. And these guys are just amazing. Real muscians who know exactly what they are doing and backed up by an epic live show. Book these guys right now. You won’t regret it. (http://www.myspace.com/lematos)
