This week, there are two "knights" you should take note of. First, like every Thursday, it's Knightriders! on the Top Floor of Club Saphir (St.Laurent). The guest this week, joining residents La Débauche and JulianC of Duke of Swabia behind the turntables, is none other than Duke of Swabia's other DJ: PeCTRNK.

Knightriders! is keeping the ball rolling after welcoming secret guest Teki Latex to the top floor last week. PeCTRNK will be diving into House, Tech-House and Minimal-Tech to make you dance and beg for more. Cover is 5$, girls drink for fr** until midnight and boys get a free shooter, but if and only if you pay all the way upstairs. Look up, you will see the Knightriders!' "K" logo. Now, that's not all for Duke of Swabia this week, PeCTRNK will continue his week-end festivities the following night where he has invited JulianC as a special guest, this Friday, at his weekly residence, the HB BAR ROOM, a little up north in Sainte-Thérèse. It's totally free, and is, in my view, one of the coolest places to hang out on a Friday night. A sophisticated bar/lounge, the HB is perfect for those who wish to spend a more calm evening, to have a few drinks, mingle and enjoy the ambiance and great music. The well-known and talented ROLAND PEMBERTON III, a.k.a Cadence Weapon will be showing up to do a DJ set tomorrow night @ Club Saphir, on the top floor! This is no joke.

Residents La Débauche and JulianC as usual, to complete one hell of a DJ lineup. Can you say 'party'?

Some of you were perhaps lucky enough to catch a glimpse of what he can do when he did a surprise appearance at Knightriders! a few weeks back. If you weren't there, well here's your second chance. We rarely get those anymore nowadays.

Yes, no need to yell. He needs no introduction. Clifford Brown will indeed be mixing at Club Saphir this Thursday, part of the weekly Knightriders! with DJs La Débauche and JulianC, and photographer Barbarossa.

Thursday nights, the nights following Wednesday nights and preceding Friday nights, are all about KNIGHTRIDERS! @ Saphir!

This week, Loose Joints will be invited to mix alongside JulianC and La Débauche, to bring some old-school disco flavor to the Saphir's top floor! Their goal: to get your body moving to the sounds and beats of timeless electronic disco and Italo disco. Bring back the 80s!

Knightriders! is going in a different direction this month, distancing itself from the head-banging hardcore electro, and going for a smoother sound and more musical approach. The top floor provides the best in house, tech-house, minimal-tech and disco.

For a 5$ cover paid on the TOP FLOOR, boys get a free shooter and girls get free drinks until midnight.

There's very little quite so satisfying and stress-relieving than a whirling throng of sweaty young revelers boogying down to the visceral, thumping sonic serotonin that is old-school disco, from the sweet strings of New York to the synthetic revision of the Italo set to the dark, guttural psychedelia of groups like Black Devil.

It's an uplifting style of music that ranges from foolish and flippant to deadly serious, but one thing reigns it all in: every single funky bass line, twinkling synth, catchy verse and cheesy string line is engineered to get your booty movin'. And that's just what two of the city's key disco pushers, Loose Joints and the All-Rounder, are coming together to do this weekend.

"I had really only been aware of Loose Joints since last summer," says organizer Jay Watts III, "and was intrigued by what they were doing. At the same time, I started the All-Rounder at Korova, and noticed that people were really responding to disco."

Attendees at Body Work: Electronic Disco Spectacle can expect '70s-style oil-colour light projections and tunes by names like Montreal's Gino Soccio, Creative Connection, Kano, Jimmy Ross and many other classic artists. The resurging popularity of disco on the Plateau has become notably more visible over the past year, aided by groups such as these two. "Not cheesy stuff, necessarily, but not just esoteric Italo either."

Hey peasants! THE DUKE of Swabia just had his Birthday yesterday, and he is going to party tomorrow night, Thursday, at Club Saphir to celebrate with his fellow Montrealers!! In fact, it won't be the only bday celebration that night, because DJ Seez is also having a birthday and he'll be mixing on the TOP FLOOR with resident (and Diesel DJ Battle finalist) Mathieu 'La Débauche' Caya and the party-starting JulianC.

This Thursday (tomorrow), at Club Saphir TOP FLOOR, DJs La Débauche and JulianC will team up again to make St.Laurent dance literally all night to the hottest new beats in town.

Get there early, as JulianC opens up with some spicy minimal and electro house starting at 10 on the dot. Another reason why you don't want to get there too late: girls drink for free 'til midnight! Now I can already hear the boys thinking outloud, what about us humans with dangling genitals? Well here's the deal, pay UPSTAIRS, last floor, and you get a free shooter, and access to both floors of the club. Basic math: Awesome music + free shooter + lots of girls with alcohol in the system= a good time. And everybody's happy ;)

Real Talk @ Saphir, July 2nd

REAL TALK comes to Montreal

One of the hottest duos in Toronto, REAL TALK, meets the hottest 'duo' in Montreal, La Débauche & JulianC (Knightriders @ Saphir). That's right! This week, REAL TALK, made up by Jonny OC and Mark Beshai, is coming to Quebec to celebrate Canada Day.



First stop, July 1st, on the south shore in Longueuil, REAL TALK will be mixing alongside french DJ Jarco Weiss at the St.Sebastien, part of the awesome 'Sweet Kids No Dicks' Wednesdays. Hosted by professional party starter, Marc-André Filion of Obscene Kidz, you won't want to miss it, especially if you live on the shore. I've been going to the St.Sebastien on Wednesdays for a while now, and I can tell you it's the place to be for inexpensive good beer and banging music (Jarco Weiss always a crowd pleaser), not to mention there's a terrace. See you there!



Then, the following night, it's downtown Montreal, at one of my favorite clubs; Club Saphir. If you've never been, boy you're missing out on great music and a guaranteed hang-over. For months now I've been going every Thursday to get my weekly electro fix. There's no place quite like it, with opening sets by the charismatic JulianC and always professional resident DJ La Débauche, ON THE TOP FLOOR every Thursday. Like I said, the hottest duo/team you will find downtown, so hot they will make you sweat, and dance all night. (They are not responsible for any long-term cerebral damage they may cause).

So, to top it all off, REAL TALK will be joining them behind the DJ booth, July 2nd! It's going to be an insane night, plain and simple.
