(written by C. Krcevinac, Diesel Canada)

MAYDAY WINS!

DJ MAYDAY aka Cara Giuiloni wins the coveted spot on the MEG Boat.

Diesel:U:Music and MontrealStateOfMind.com hosted the ultimate DJ battle to a packed house at the Diesel store last night (2114 de la Montage). The evening was the end of a search to find an unknown talent to perform on the MEG Boat August 2nd alongside Don Rimini, LA Riots, DATA, Milano, DJ Edjotronic and Mr Maqs.

The Diesel store was overflowing with fans craning to see DJ Spaz, Axel Klein, Mayday, Nujax duo and DJ La Debauche take turns wowing the judges with 20 minute sets so powerful the walls were rattling.

Misstress Barbara came down to judge and speak about her first her first album as a songwriter, I’m No Human – one that features contributions from Sam Roberts, Brazilian Girls and Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. Power DJ/producer and MEG Boat vet Poirier also lent his fine tuned ear as a judge our finalists with Mustapha Terki from MEG, Jean-Aymeri de Magistris from MontrealStateofMind.com and Parvez Lakha from Diesel.

MAYDAY has a pretty busy schedule these days from doing the Picknik Electronik, Peer Pressure’s Block Party, DJ’ing with Mary Hell. The 27 year old Mayday is excited for her big performance on the boat, “I was sick last year and so bummed I couldn’t attend… I can’t believe that this year I will be actually be performing!” She ads, “It was great for us as artists to have a platform that gives us exposure to new audiences and I hope I can come back as a judge in 2010!”
