NLARGE YOUR PARTIES

DON RIMINI
NLARGE YOUR PARTIES

"This is the highly anticipated new release by unstoppable electro producer hailing from France, Don Rimini. “Nlarge Your Parties” is the follow-up to the much acclaimed “Time To Panic EP”, “Absolutely Rad EP”, and “Kick n’Run” which gathered amazing feedback and great success among both listeners and the media. More than just a single, “Nlarge Your Parties” is a mini album that includes four brand new tracks.

The EP showcases a more mature and accomplished production work; more melodic, with subtle arrangements and added vocals, yet it still retains the Don Rimini unique sound signature that rapidly propelled him into the spotlight; in your face beats, energetic electro sounds, colorful synths and dynamic rhythms.

The influences on “Nlarge Your Parties” range from Chicago ghetto house to tropical dubstep, straight techno house to more melodic, organic and harmonic sounds. Armand Van Helden, Green Velvet, DJ Rush, Underground Resistance, DJ Sneak, Basement Jaxx or Fatboy Slim can be named as references for the French producer. Don Rimini has assembled a rich pallet of sounds, moods and grooves for a stunning result.

Chilly Gonzales: Ivory Tower

Chilly Gonzales returns with Ivory Tower
(September 14; Arts & Crafts)

"… highly entertaining." – New York Times

"Famed rapper / pianist / Grammy-nominated producer Chilly Gonzales is about to release Ivory Tower, an ambitious, intelligent and – typically of Chilly – clever album, produced by German producer Boys Noize. The album is a musical companion to a new feature film of the same name, written and produced by Gonzales, starring Tiga, Peaches and Gonzo himself. The film, which centers around two champion chess-playing brothers (Gonzales and Tiga) who share a love for the same girl (Peaches), confirms Gonzales as the musical genius and legendary all-round entertainer he’s always claimed to be.

Chilly spent most of the past year wooing audiences with his now infamous Piano Talk Shows, which included several sold-out shows in New York (and two @ SXSW 2010) featuring high-profile guest collaborators and instigators such as Andrew WK, Sia, A-Track, and Princess Superstar creating beauty and mayhem on stage. But the main attraction, as always, was Chilly G, aka “Gonzo”, who delivered his trademark wry, semi-autobiographical rap lyrics over original piano works, with additional storytelling in between songs.

Kitsuné x Ponystep

Here are some fresh news from Kitsuné: KITSUNÉ x PONYSTEP mixed by Jerry Bouthier, a summer mix cd "très mode". After Kitsuné released the Kitsuné x BoomBox compilation in 2007, an iconic snapshot of what was possibly the wildest club in the world at the time, the pairing is once more in full effect with Jerry Bouthier in dj seat again.

The new compilation, Kitsuné x Ponystep mixes tracks and remixes from some of the hottest names around (Roisin Murphy, French Horn Rebellion, Booka Shade, Aeroplane, Lindstrom, Munk...) a truly international cast that goes as far as Sydney, Perth, NYC, Oslo, Berlin, Manchester and inevitably Paris and London. In today's troubled times, emotion has become fashion's latest by word and is certainly an essential ingredient here...

Before the release of the compilation (July 5th), watch the cover art 'making of':

"Easily the most soulful and funky remix we have ever had the honor of receiving. Very Plus Move = Very Tasteful." - Passion Pit

"After years of pounding at the backstage door, it's pretty much official: dance music is the new punk rock. CBGBs is no more, and guitars are swiftly being eclipsed by laptops, but the DIY aesthetic is alive and well. So it's only fitting that the future of American dance music should emerge in the form of two New England Art Institute grads, Josh Shifrin and Paul Mihailoff, who left behind their punk rock and hip-hop pasts to form Plus Move, an electronic act obsessed with the future. And for good reason - they've been there.

Visitors- "Ledger" EP

Visitors
Ledger” EP

featuring Dennis Kane (AKA Citizen Kane)
Sal Principato (Liquid Liquid/Fist Of Facts)
with Richard Sen Remix

Out Now on 12” Vinyl and digital exclusive @ Juno
Out: June 22 worldwide
Label: Disques Sinthomme

A) “Original Mix”
B) “Richard Sen IRT Remix”

"Fans of disco, nu disco, dance rock – whatever you call it – pay attention to this hot new release from Visitors entitled “Ledger.” It’s the rare 4/4 groove that sounds so analog and so fucking live that it evokes an era produced before computers dominated the world, (back then we cut tape instead of clicking mice). “Ledger” is all about celebrating a fertile past with a true vision for the future dance floor. This is an authentic and elegantly specific NYC sound.

Ledger” traverses the spectrum from balearica, to disco to no wave. Featuring an impassioned and iconic vocal from legendary Liquid Liquid front man Sal P, Ledger carves out new ground in the nu-disco landscape. Rising from a hard bass line and haunting acoustic rhythms, the song moves lyrically into a dance groove that builds from the counterpoint of live playing and electronic production. Featuring live guitar, percussion, and keyboard work, the song develops a loft like frenzy as it progresses. Ledger has a lyric that eludes the cliché of the usual dance track filler and recalls the impressionistic notations of Talking Heads “Remain in Light” or Bowie’s “The Lodger”. Ledger takes its place in the realm of thinking man’s disco, think Dinosaur L, Tiger Stripes, or any of the driving No-wave disco jams that used to issue from the downtown alembic.
